Mithun Chakraborty’s son Mimoh made his acting debut back in 2008 with Raj N Sippy’s action film Jimmy. However, he didn’t taste success for the next three years till Vikram Bhatt’s 2011 horror flick Haunted – 3D. Now, his younger brother Namashi has said that Mimoh’s debut was not worth his stature.

Now, Mithun’s younger brother Namashi Chakraborty, also an actor, has clarified a perception about the Hindi film industry related to his brother’s career growth. “The public perception that Bollywood or any film industry is a family, that’s the biggest lie. No one’s family here. You’re a business proposal. If you give them business, you’re a star. If you don’t, you’re not,” claimed Namashi.

“My brother had to be launched in a film that wasn’t worth his stature. But the situation at that time was such that his other projects weren’t taking off. So, he had to do that film, which unfortunately didn’t give him his due. Jimmy’s failure had nothing to do with my father calling the producer or anything,” added Namashi in the interview with Galatta India.

“But he did Haunted after his comeback, which was a super duper hit. But even if you look at his career after that, there’s a hesitation in the industry. They give him only selective work. I feel some star kids have given more flops than Mimoh, but they’re still getting patronage. There’s nothing wrong with that. They’re all talented people. But the industry isn’t as close-knit as most people think it is,” argued Namashi.

Namashi Chakraborty recalled the only advice Mimoh Chakraborty gave to him when he began his acting career with Rajkumar Santoshi’s 2023 romantic comedy Bad Boy: “Be very strong and brave! Because in this industry, if your film works on a Friday, then you’re a hit. But if it doesn’t, then you become useless for others.” Namashi is hopeful things will change for Mimoh with the arrival of Vikram Bhatt’s Haunted 3D: Ghosts of the Past, a sequel to the 2011 hit horror flick.

After the first part, Mimoh appeared in forgettable films like Rajnish Raj Thakur’s 2011 crime comedy Loot, also starring Govinda, Suniel Shetty, Kim Sharma, and Ravi Kishan. He then shared screen space with his father Mithun Chakraborty in Ashu Trikha’s 2013 action thriller Enemmy, which was produced by his mother and former actor Yogeeta Bali.

Mimoh then appeared Suvendu Raj Ghosh’s 2021 biopic of late Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav as his younger brother Shivpal Singh Yadav. He also played supporting roles in Jayveer Panghal’s crime thriller Rosh and Kushan Nandy’s romantic comedy Jogira Sara Ra Ra, alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui, in 2023. But he came into notice yet again with Neeraj Pandey’s show Khakee: The Bengal Chapter, which dropped on Netflix India earlier this year.
