Bhavana Pandey rose to fame after her appearance in Netflix’s show The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives. Bhavana, who did not come from a film family, married actor Chunky Panday in 1998 and was suddenly brought to the world of glamour. In a recent interview, Bhavana recalled being introduced to a world with “beautiful-looking people” and how this made her feel insecure in the beginning. She said, “It was the lowest phase of Chunky’s career and my dad strictly asked me not to marry him.”

In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Bhavana admitted to feeling insecure after marrying an actor but added that despite all the thoughts in her head, she didn’t have much time to process them all as they welcomed their daughter Ananya in the first year of their marriage. She said, “With us, things moved really fast. I did have insecurities when I got married to Chunky because I had only seen him outside of his atmosphere. I had not been with him full-fledged due to limited calls and flights. So when I moved here, I went through insecurities because I suddenly came in a line which was full of beautiful and successful people and you want to make that extra effort to be liked by them. I also wanted that Chunky should be proud of his wife.”

Bhavana shared that the level of insecurity in an individual also depends on how your partner treats you and makes you feel. “In my case, Chunky made me feel extremely comfortable. It was also the time when he was at the lowest phase of his career so we were more like a unit than him flying on his own. I supported him a lot in my own way from the house,” she shared.

Recalling that Ananya was born “exactly after nine months sixteen days of our wedding,” Bhavana said, “It was completely unplanned. Things happened very fast. So instead of being an insecure wife and successful husband, we became parents to a baby girl. So, there were insecurities but because of the circumstances and him making me feel comfortable, he taught me that I don’t have to be afraid of anything.” Bhavana shared the only silver lining of Chunky not having a lot of work at that time was that they got to spend more time together, making their bond stronger.

Bhavana also spoke about the importance of having a friendly bond with their children as she grew up extremely scared of her parents. She recalled, “I still remember, I didn’t have the guts to tell my dad about my relationship with Chunky. I first informed it to my mother. I told them, ‘I want to marry Chunky Panday’, they were like, ‘What?’. I am lucky things worked out well for me but being so impulsive at that age and not listening to your parents and them being unaware of your life, it could have turned out in any way.”

She added, “I didn’t even take their guidance. My father strictly told me, ‘You cannot marry Chunky Panday. He is an actor and we are not from the industry. We don’t know that world. What about your career after you move to Mumbai?’ And I told him, ‘No, I will get married to him’. I decided I wanted to marry Chunky and I didn’t listen to my father. Today, Chunky and my dad share a great bond, but I am simply lucky that things turned out to be good.”
