Ashish Chanchlani is back — and for fans of the YouTube superstar, it’s a comeback long in the making. After months of silence and speculation following the India’s Got Latent controversy, Ashish has finally broken cover to announce his next creative venture: a horror-comedy web series titled Ekaki.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday afternoon, Ashish dropped a series of character posters from the series and revealed that this would mark his debut as a writer-director, under his own banner, ACV Studios. In the caption, he wrote: “We wholeheartedly invite you for the chilliest trip of the year. Bas yaad rakhna… Ekaki mein reh kar bhi aap kabhi akele nahi rahenge.”
The show will feature many familiar faces from the ‘Ashish Chanchlani universe,’ including Akash Dodeja, Harshh Rane, Sidhant Sarfare, Rohit Sadhwani, Shashank Shekhar, and Grishim Nawanii. With Ekaki, Ashish blends his trademark comedy with horror. It is said as an attempt that could redefine his post-controversy phase.
Notably, this is his first project announcement since becoming embroiled in the India’s Got Latent row. In February, the comedian was summoned by Assam Police for questioning, and in March, he appeared before the National Commission for Women alongside fellow creators Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, and Apoorva Mukhija. All of them were questioned about their roles in the controversial video clip that sparked a nationwide conversation.
Amid the backlash, Ashish posted a heartfelt video message, requesting his fans to stand by him. “Please keep me and my family in your prayers,” he had said. Now, with Ekaki, he seems ready to turn the page. While the details of the plot remain under wraps, fans in the comments section are already brimming with excitement and anticipation.
The series is set to release on ACV Studios’ official YouTube channel later this year.
