Actor Vijay Varma, who was recently seen in the film Lust Stories 2 and the show Kaalkoot, shared a hilarious anecdote about working with Amitabh Bachchan on the movie Pink. Vijay recounted when he photobombed a picture of Amitabh, after seeing co-star Taapsee Pannu do the same. Amitabh later summoned him, showed him the photos as evidence, and started asking questions. Vijay admitted that the situation made him quite nervous, but he eventually realised that Big B was joking.
In an interview with Film Companion, Vijay was shown a picture in which he was happily posing with his arms in the air, while Amitabh was in front of him, unaware. When asked about the picture, Vijay said, “So, this is this is after we finished the Delhi schedule, we were shooting in film city on a set we built for the courtroom and I don’t have any scene with Mr Bachchan in the first half of the film. In this courtroom also, we don’t have a scene, but I’m there.”
He added, “He is probably standing there doing his lines, Taapsee goes back and she just does this little bit and then runs away. I happen to go after her and I got encouraged, then I went a little extra and that got caught. I see all these security guards, all the safari-clad army of Mr Bachchan really giving me a side-eye.”
Vijay said that Amitabh called him the next day and told him, “You come, bring my laptop. I want to show you what you guys did.” Amitabh told Vijay to scroll through his blog and when they landed on Vijay’s photobombing picture, Amitabh said, “This is what you do behind me, this is what you do?” Vijay added, “And I’m thinking, ‘Is he serious or not?’ I was scared for a second.’ I’m like, ‘What did I do?’ He was trying to be cute.” The movie Pink was released in 2016. The film also starred Kirti Kulhari, Andrea Tariang, and Angad Bedi in pivotal roles.
Fimmaker R Balki had also opened up about a similar incident involving Amitabh. In an interview with Film Companion, Balki had said that Amitabh had started screaming on the sets of one of his films, “Suddenly, he starts screaming. And everybody was stunned. We’d never seen him scream. I said, ‘One second, there’s something wrong out here’, so I went up to his van. I asked, ‘Everything okay? Food okay? Why are you screaming?’ He looked at me, didn’t reply, went back to his poker face. Again he said, ‘Call that guy!’ I said, ‘Amit ji, what is the problem? What has happened today morning?’ He looks at me and says, ‘You dumb fool, I’m in character’.”
