After Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar seemed to have been immensely impressed by Ghoomer. The film, starring Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher, tells the tale of a young cricketer, who loses her right hand in an accident but fights all adversities to get back to the pitch. In a video shared by Amitabh Bachchan, the popular cricketer called the film “extremely inspiring”. The proud father posted the video by the iconic sportsman with the caption, “The ‘magic’ of the words by the CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS.”
In the video clip, the ‘Master Blaster’, as he is lovingly called, said, “I just saw Ghoomer and it is an extremely inspiring movie. Passion, will, dreams, jaha bhi ho, vaha boundary line nhi hoti (Wherever there are these qualities, there is no boundary). Over the years in real life also I have realised that you know there are ups and downs in life. And this is exactly what this movie shows us. But through sports, we learn so many lessons. Failures, injuries and disappointments – they teach you a lot in life, and this is what this movie is about. I would say for youngsters also, this movie can teach you so much. That to never give up in life, and overcome all the challenges. There will be challenges, un challenges ko jeetna hi toh maza hai (beating those challenges is the fun).”
Sachin Tendulkar had originally shared the video praising Abhishek and Saiyami’s film. He mentioned how Abhishek was “fantastic as the coach” while Saiyami looked “very authentic”. Tendulkar also said that Angad Bedi was perfect in his part while Shabana Azmi’s one-liners made his day.
“Really enjoyed watching #Ghoomer by #RBalki. It was truly inspirational and should be watched by all youngsters. Abhishek Bachchan was fantastic as the Coach, Saiyami Kher looked very authentic, her love for Cricket and her ability to understand the character was amazing. Angad Bedi was perfect as her constant support and Shabana Azmi ji’s one-liners made my day. Simply loved the film,” Sachin Tendulkar captioned the post.
Abhishek Bachchan replied to the post writing, “Dearest Sachin, your words mean the world to us. You know the place you hold in our hearts. Thank you for watching the film..” Sachin Tendulkar also interacted with Saiyami Kher recently and tested her bowling skills in a heartwarming video.
Directed by R Balki, Ghoomer received fairly positive reviews but did not find many takers in cinema halls. In four days, the film has crossed Rs 3.95 crore. On the other hand, Gadar 2 continues to rule over the box office in the second week, while OMG 2 has been benefitting from positive word of mouth.
