‘Amitabh Bachchan is a Prabhas fanboy,’ says Kalki 2898 AD director Nag Ashwin: ‘He has watched Saaho twice, was full excited when…’

Kalki director Nag Ashwin shared how Prabhas was also in awe of Amitabh Bachchan and kept saying, "I can't believe I am going to act with him."

Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Deepika Padukone starrer Kalki 2898 AD has seen resounding success worldwide. The film was recently released in the OTT space too, and while fans revisited the magic they saw with this film on the big screen, director Nag Ashwin went down the memory lane sharing the bond of Amitabh Bachchan and Prabhas. Nag said while Prabhas was in the awe of Big B, he was surprised to see Amitabh was a fanboy of Prabhas.

Revisiting the equation both actors shared while filming Kalki 2898 AD, Nag Ashwin shared, “Prabhas garu is a huge fan of Amitabh Bachchan, he was overwhelmed. He was there when we shot the first scene of Ashwatthama. After he gave the clap, he was standing in the background somewhere and saying, ‘I can’t believe this man is on set, I can’t believe I am going to act with him.’ He was in complete awe. Prabhas is very humble, but he was even more overwhelmed.”

Nag Ashwin went on to reveal, “What was even more surprising was to see, how big a fanboy is Bachchan sir of Prabhas. He went back and said, ‘Can you believe it is the Baahubali, your fans are going to be so angry because Nagi is making me hit you. What is going on?’ He was fully excited whenever he had a scene with Prabhas. There were some scenes I could not shoot together, but separately, and he would be so disappointed, saying, ‘But I want to do that scene with Prabhas.’ He is just such a big fan of the personality and phenomenon that Prabhas has become.”

The Kalki 2898 AD director also shared how Amitabh Bachchan called up Prabhas after watching Salaar-Part 1. “On one of the last days of shoot, after Salaar was released he was so excited, he called him and said I watched it twice and you were amazing in the film. Both have amazing mutual admiration.”

Kalki 2898 AD saw resounding success at the box office, the film went on to collect more than Rs 1100 crores worldwide becoming one of the highest grossers of 2024.
