Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan’s granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda has always firmly stated that she isn’t interesting in acting and wants to become an entrepreneur. To fulfill her dream, she is even pursuing an MBA through the Blended Post Graduate Programme (BPGP) in Management at IIM Ahmedabad. Now, in a recent interview, Navya opened up about her experience of enrolling in the educational course. She also spoke about learning a lot of things from her batchmates in college.
During a conversation with Barkha Dutt on Mojo Story, she revealed that pursuing MBA has been difficult. “It’s a blended post graduate program. It’s two years full time – a blend between on campus and online classes. Of course, it has been tough. I think anyone who has done and MBA, especially from IIM Ahmedabad can tell you that it’s definitely challenging,” she shared.
Having said that, it has been a learning curve for Navya, who is Shweta Bachchan and Nikhil Nanda’s daughter. “But, it has been a great experience going back to school. I am still adjusting to having give exams again after six years of not being in a classroom. So, it’s a great experience. I have the greatest professors and the curriculum is amazing,” she said.
Navya Nanda also confessed that the best part about her program is the friendships she has made. “But for me, the best part of this entire experience are my batch mates and the friendships that I have made in the past one year, the things that I have learnt from them is far more than what I have learnt inside the classroom. They are the most incredible people that I have had in my life.”
She further added, “Everyone has come from all around the country, different fields, different areas of work, expertise, and ages. It’s been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life so far. Just being able to be around people who are so dedicated towards what they are doing.”
Navya faced hate after the news of her doing MBA from the elite institute came out. At the time, IIM professor Promila Agarwal had defended her, on X , “The acceptance rate for this program is low, like others. Even if people want to discount her interview & CV. She, dammit, cleared the cut-off. For a long time, India has been debating why elite families move out of India for higher education. Why don’t they study in Indian colleges? One lady makes it to IIMA for an online MBA & everyone is worked up.”
Besides her MBA, Navya Naveli Nanda is also an entrepreneur and a social activist. She is the founder of the non-profit Project Naveli and co-founder of Aara Health, a women’s health tech company. She is also involved in her family’s business, Escorts Kubota, and the host of a famous popular podcast, ‘What The Hell Navya’.
