As Punjab continues to battle its worst-hit floods in recent memory, several celebrities have stepped forward to show solidarity and contribute to ongoing relief efforts. Among them is actor Randeep Hooda, who has maintained a long-standing association, spanning over a decade, with Global Sikhs NGO founder Amarpreet Singh and his close friend Maninder Singh, both of whom are currently on the ground with volunteers providing essential aid to flood-affected communities. The team has been distributing necessities and extending critical support to those most impacted by the disaster.
Taking to Instagram, Randeep reshared a post from Global Sikhs, which read: “PUNJAB FLOOD RELIEF 2025. True to his spirit, @randeephooda has once again stood up for Punjab. He is on ground zero with Global Sikhs, extending his support in our ongoing flood relief efforts. Together, we continue to bring hope and help where it’s needed most.”
As previously reported, singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has adopted ten of the most severely flood-affected villages in the Gurdaspur and Amritsar districts of Punjab. Now, in a heartfelt video shared on his Instagram handle, the artist has reiterated his commitment to standing by the people of Punjab, pledging to do everything in his power to help restore a sense of normalcy. In the video, Diljit Dosanjh said:
“We have risen from the lap of Punjab, Punjab has embraced us, and we will die in the lap of Punjab. To all the affected families, we want to say — we are with you. This doesn’t end by simply giving rations or water. Until your lives begin again, we are all with you.” Diljit Dosanjh also took a moment to express his gratitude to the authorities of Punjab, local media outlets, and the youth who have been at the forefront of the ongoing relief efforts.
In recent days, an outpouring of support has come from across the film and entertainment fraternity. Celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, Sunny Deol, Shilpa Shetty, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Alia Bhatt have all voiced their concern and support. Actor Sonu Sood launched a helpline for those in need, while Ammy Virk pledged to rebuild 200 homes. Other prominent names such as Sonam Bajwa, Gippy Grewal, Satinder Sartaaj, and Karan Aujla have also joined the efforts.
Despite a halt in rainfall across parts of Punjab, the situation on the ground remains dire. In Patiala, floodwaters from the Ghaggar River and its tributaries continue to wreak havoc. On Thursday, more than 20 villages in the Ghanaur block were inundated, with water entering narrow lanes and raising serious concerns among residents. Authorities have issued fresh alerts, urging caution as the flood levels continue to rise.
