Ajay Devgn has opened up about how he and his wife, actor Kajol, have helped their children, Nysa and Yug, deal with online trolling. Nysa, who often gets papped and her pictures and videos surface on social media, has had to deal with hate on online medium multiple times.
Ajay says he has learnt to “ignore it” and has asked his children to do the same. When asked how he deals with the incessant trolling of his children and what are the conversations around online trolling that he’s had with them, he told Filmfare, “You have to constantly explain to them that they shouldn’t be bothered by what they read online. The trolls form a miniscule per cent of your audience…”
“I don’t know how such negativity happens. I’ve learnt to ignore it and have asked my children to do the same. I don’t even understand what they write sometimes, so I haven’t let it bother me,” Ajay added.
Ajay, who has clarified that neither of his children dream to become actors like other star-kids, also shared that while Yug has recently started watching Hindi films, Nysa is not interested. He said, “My son Yug has now started watching them. My daughter Nysa doesn’t watch our films. She doesn’t have any interest in watching them, at least not yet.”
Ajay also shared that he’s concerned about the constant spotlight on Nysa and Yug. In the same interview, Ajay said, “It does bother me a lot because you cannot change that. You really don’t know what to do. Because a lot of the time, there are some things written that are not even true. But if you react, they multiply. So it is a tricky situation.”
He also added that it is tricky for him and Kajol to find a balance while bringing up their children. “It is extremely difficult because a teenager’s mindset is completely different. They haven’t yet reached maturity, but they don’t even rationalise much, and they think very differently from us. That is why we need to find a balance while dealing with them,” he said.
He also spoke about how he and Kajol are mindful of their children growing up as “they pick up on every little thing”.
Ajay’s Bholaa, which he has also directed is scheduled to release in theatres on March 30. The film stars Tabu as a police inspector.
