Abhishek also surprised an audience in a Mumbai theatre. The actor took to his social media handle and thanked everyone for the words of appreciation. The actor wrote, “Thankful for the generous words of appreciation that are being shared. My gratitude to each and every one of you!”

Celebrities including Harsha Bhogle, Virender Sehwag, Daler Mehndi and Ajinkya Rahane, among others, heaped praise on the film. A part of Bhogle’s long review read, “I went to see a movie recently and I went with a combination of excitement and unease. Then there was Abhishek Bachchan. I think he lives the role of the coach. I love the way Abhishek married the two into his character. I could recognize a couple of cricketers within the character that Abhishek plays, but I’ll leave it for you to decide.”

At the box office, Ghoomer had an opening of Rs 85 lakh. However, the film only managed to collect Rs 1.2 crore (nett) on Saturday. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the film’s two-day collections stand at Rs 2 crore. It is facing tough competition from Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2, Rajinikanth’s Jailer, and Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2. Ghoomer also features Shabana Azmi and Angad Bedi in pivotal roles.
