Following in the footsteps of many of his colleagues and other Indian celebrities, Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan recently purchased a 10,000 sq ft land parcel in Alibaug near Mumbai, Maharashtra, as reported by Hindustan Times, citing its sources. The land is said to have been acquired from The House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL) for Rs 10 crore, with the transaction being registered last week.
According to the publication, Big B has invested in the plot within a project called A Alibaug, a 20-acre plotted development launched in April last year.
Notably, this isn’t Bachchan’s first purchase from this builder. Prior to the inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22, Bachchan had bought 10,000 square feet of land in The Sarayu, a 7-star plotted development by the Sarayu River, approximately 15 minutes away from the Shri Ram Temple, for Rs 14.5 crore.
The coastal town of Alibaug, renowned for its beaches like Alibag Beach and Varsoli Beach, has been a favoured real estate destination for Indian elites, particularly movie celebrities, for quite some time. Over time, numerous stars have invested in luxurious properties, turning Alibaug into a playground for the rich and famous.
From Bollywood’s Baadshah Shah Rukh Khan and power couples Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli, and Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, to actor Rahul Khanna and fashion stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania and her husband Homi Adajania, Alibaug boasts a significant celebrity presence.
According to Financial Express, while Shah Rukh Khan’s abode in Alibaug is the ultra-luxurious Deja Vu Farms, cricketer Kohli and his wife, actor-producer Anushka Sharma, invested in an opulent 4 BHK villa valued between Rs 10.5 – 13 crore in November, as reported by ET Times.
Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan too had, last year, purchased 1.5 acres of farmland in Alibaug. In 2023, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone invested a substantial Rs 22 crore to acquire an opulent bungalow sprawling across 9,000 square meters in Alibaug, near Mapgaon.
