Singer and host Aditya Narayan, who also happens to be popular singer Udit Narayan’s son, has claimed that he was replaced from a Bollywood song at the last minute, and the track has gone on to become a hit. While Aditya has said that he is quite upset over the alleged replacement, he will only open up about the issue when sufficient time has passed.

Speaking with Hindustan Times, Aditya Narayan said, “I had sung a very big song this year, and my rendition was replaced at the last minute. This particular time I was very upset. Maybe I will talk about it more in the future when a little bit of time has passed.”

Further elaborating on the makers’ decision, the actor-singer and host stated, “It is out and a big hit. But at the last moment, the makers decided, and not the music composer, to go the conventional way and pick another singer. They replaced me with the best, so it’s not a bad feeling really. I was looking forward to the song, but it’s a part and parcel of life. I am just happy that these composers are calling me. I am very particular about the songs I associate with. I had a nice release last year, Ji Huzoor in Shamshera.”

When asked how does he actually feel about the incident, the singer said, “I am absolutely okay with it now. I was upset then, between four-five days, specially when that song was playing everywhere. I knew I had done an equally good job. At the same time, I think from another perspective: kahaan maine itne gaane gaaye honge jo doosron ke liye honge (Even I must have sung so many songs which must have gone to others first).” He said his father, singer Udit Narayan, has also faced this and was at times replaced from a song at the last minute.

Besides being a singer, Aditya Narayan has also acted in a handful of films, including titles such as Pardes and Shaapit. However, his most popular gig has to be as the host of the singing reality show Indian Idol. The singer, who recently recovered from a third bout of Covid-19, was last seen hosting the thirteenth season of the show.
