Many actors from across film industries are contesting in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024, and it was rumored that Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt is going to take the plunge. Several reports claimed he is in talks with the Indian National Congress Party. However, the actor has posted a tweet ending all such speculations.

The Bollywood star refuted such rumours and claimed that he is not joining any political party nor is he competing in the upcoming election. He wrote, “I would like to put all rumours about me joining politics to rest. I am not joining any party or contesting elections. If I do decide to step into the political arena then I will be the first one to announce it. Please refrain from believing what is being circulated in the news about me as of now.”

Sanjay Dutt, back in 2009, was part of the Samajwadi Party, but he failed to make a difference and resigned as general secretary of the party. Later, in 2019, it was rumoured that the actor was going to join Rashtriya Samaj Paksh. At that time, Sanjay had issued a statement, saying that he is not entering politics. However, he gets associated with politics often as his father Sunil Dutt was an MP of the Congress party and served as Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports (2004-2005).

On the work front, Sanjay Dutt was last seen in the Tamil film Leo, starring Vijay. Sanjay played the role of a gangster, who is into occult and human sacrifices. The film and his role received a mixed response, but it went on to become a box office hit. He has Telugu film Double iSmart, Kannada film KD – The Devil, and Welcome to The Jungle in the pipeline.

This year many actors forayed into politics. The biggest name was Kangana Ranaut, who got the Bharatiya Janata Party’s ticket to contest from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh. Veteran actor Arun Govil, who famously played Hindu God Ram in the TV show Ramayan, is contesting from Meerut for BJP. In Tamil Nadu, star couple Sarathkumar and Radikaa joined the BJP and the female actor is contesting the election for the party from Virudhunagar.
