Actor Aamir Khan recently announced his son Junaid Khan‘s debut as a film producer with Pritam Pyaare, which will feature Aamir in a cameo. Junaid’s debut as a film producer comes as a huge relief for Aamir, who, at one point, was worried about his son. The actor, in a new interview, spoke at length about Junaid, and how the star kid doesn’t have a car and still prefers travelling by public transport.

Speaking at News18 India’s ‘Amrit Ratna 2023’ event, Aamir described his and former wife Reena Dutta’s son, Junaid, as the kind of schoolkid who knows everything and always tops the class, but stays aloof and rarely talks to people. “He is a bit different as a person,” said Aamir. Junaid’s reserved nature was a matter of concern for Aamir and Reena until he joined the Rotaract Club in college and started interacting with people. But what didn’t change was Junaid’s need to lead his life in his own way.

Aamir shared, “He is 30 now, and since his childhood, I wanted to buy a car for him. But to this day, he hasn’t allowed me to buy the car. He still uses public transport. He travels by bus and train.”

The actor also narrated a recent incident when Junaid, instead of taking a flight, travelled by a state bus. “A couple of months back, he was in Pondicherry and he told me he is going to Bengaluru for his friend’s wedding. I asked him, ‘What time is your flight?’ He said, ‘I am going by the state bus.’ He is a very independent person and he likes to live life in his own way. He wants to be a self-made person,” said Aamir. He also described Junaid as his ‘biggest critic’, and said, “If I am afraid of anyone in life, it is Junaid. He is very strict. He scolds me if I go late for his meeting. For his meetings, I go early only.”

However, now that Junaid has produced a film, Aamir has “no worries”. Junaid will make his acting debut with a period epic titled Maharaja, due out on Netflix. At the event, Aamir Khan also finally announced his next project, after a brief sabbatical. He said that he will star in and produce an upcoming feature film titled Sitaare Zameen Par.
