Om Shanti Om, directed by Farah Khan, was a huge success, and the star-studded song Deewangi was one of the most memorable parts of the film. In the song, 31 movie stars made special appearances, making it a truly unforgettable moment on the big screen. Farah recently revealed that she wanted Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan to be a part of the song too but this couldn’t happen.
On Maniesh Paul’s podcast, Farah opened up about the reason why Aamir decided to skip the song. Farah said, “We called a lot of stars who eventually did not come. Amit ji could not come. Abhishek and Aishwarya were getting married that week, so he couldn’t come. Aamir’s was the funniest, he kept me hanging and in the end, he gave me the reason that he was editing Taare Zameen Par. I said, ‘Just come, I will get it done in two hours.”
Farah continued, “Then he called me and said, ‘Farah I am editing, if I leave the editing for two hours and come for the shoot, my film will be delayed for six months.’ Then I said, ‘You please don’t come.’ Later when I asked him about this reason, he said, ‘I did not want to come.’”
Farah had earlier revealed that Shah Rukh had also promised to get Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu on board. She told PTI, “The whole industry featured in the title song of the film. Salman Khan and Saif Ali Khan wanted to see Dharmendraji dance. We captured that impromptu moment when all of them were dancing.”
Priyanka Chopra, Rekha, Tabu, Karisma Kapoor, Dharmendra, Jeetendra, Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Mithun Chakraborty, Kajol, Rani Mukerji and Juhi Chawla among others were a part of the song. Om Shanti Om marked Deepika Padukone’s debut in Bollywood.
