Kapil Sharma is returning with a new sketch comedy show on Netflix, and the streamer debuted the first trailer for the show on Saturday, a week ahead of its debut. It appears that the format of the show is pretty much the same as before, with a chit-chat segment featuring celebrity guests and a series of sketches featuring familiar faces. The Great Indian Kapil Show, as it is now called, marks the long-awaited reunion of Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover, who parted ways after a rumoured altercation in 2017, during which Kapil allegedly hit Sunil while on a flight back from Australia.

The first trailer of the show teased guests such as Ranbir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Aamir Khan, Diljit Dosanjh, Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer. Unlike the previous iterations of the show on Sony TV and Colors, the celebrity appearances here are not tied to their upcoming films or shows. A big highlight of this trailer is Kapil and Sunil addressing the elephant in the room as they joke about their fight. Since then, the two have never shared screen space. Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Archana Puran Singh also appear in the trailer, and are seen playing the same roles they did on the television version of this show.

Kapil’s show will stream weekly on Netflix with a new episode dropping every Saturday. Kapil has been churning out similar shows since 2013, when he first launched Comedy Nights with Kapil on Colors TV.

In 2022, Kapil first appeared on Netflix in a stand-up special called I’m Not Done Yet. Since then, it was rumoured that Kapil might move to Netflix with his weekly show but the announcement about it was only made in 2023.

Sunil Grover said that reuniting with Kapil felt like ‘homecoming’ and said in a statement, “The Great Indian Kapil Show feels like a homecoming. We just picked up from where we left off. The trailer is just a small glimpse of the madness and fun we’ve had on the show. Our Indian fans are like family, and this time, we’ll reach a worldwide audience, thanks to Netflix.”
