Actor Harman Baweja is currently on cloud nine, as he continues to win accolades for his performance in Scoop. The Hansal Mehta-directed web series has the actor essay the role of JCP Harshvardhan Shroff. The Netflix drama is an adaptation of journalist Jigna Vora’s biographical book Behind The Bars In Byculla: My Days in Prison. Karishma Tanna plays the ambitious crime journalist, who becomes a murder suspect.

In an interview with ETimes, Harman spoke about how it feels surreal to get so much love for the show. He added that he’s amazed at how audiences invested and related to every character. Talking about meeting Jigna, he said it was a brief encounter, adding that the first time they met, she exclaimed, “I hate you.”

Elaborating on the same, the actor shared that he didn’t know Jigna before working on the show. “She came on the set, and on the first day, she said, ‘I hate you.’ I kind of got where she was coming from, and it was sweet of her. I did tell her that I would be taking this as a compliment,” Harman said.

The actor added that Jigna Vora really liked everyone’s performance, and post the release, she’s elated with the response. He added, “She is happy and that means a lot. When you build something inspired by somebody, and that person feels right about it.. that’s a big challenge and also a victory. It actually feels great how the audiences and the reviewers liked the show and the characters.”

While Harman’s character was quite layered and painted in shades of grey, the actor shared that he’s not an intense person in real life. He added that having been through enough in life, one gets gravitas. “Earlier, everything bothered me. But now having experienced the good and bad, facing rejections, you tend to not be too extreme. There is a balance in life,” he added.

The Love Story 2050 actor further spoke about how people change during success and failures. He said that it’s supposed to be that way as it’s part of the work culture. Harman believes that one would only invest in another’s time if they are good enough. “That’s how it works. And if anything, it actually makes you work harder so that the other person comes around,” the actor said.

Also starring Mohhamad Zeeshan Ayyub, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Deven Bhojani, and Inayat Sood among others, Scoop is streaming on Netflix.
