Director Neeraj Pandey’s action-thriller web series, The Freelancer, is set to release on Disney Plus Hotstar on September 1. The show features Mohit Raina, Kashmira Pardeshi, and Anupam Kher in pivotal roles. The story revolves around the rescue of a young girl who ends up in Syria after her wedding.
In a new clip, Kashmira Pardeshi’s character, Aliya, is shown tackling the dangers of Syria all alone. The clip sheds light on the hardships faced by women in the region. Mohit’s character, Avinash Kamath, also appears in the clip, advising and helping Aliya. Aliya says, “Who will help me now?” Mohit replies, “You will help yourself Aliya.” Aliya is also shown attempting to escape from Syria by devising a plan, all the while facing abuse by her husband.

Talking about her role, Kashmira had earlier said in a statement, “The Freelancer is a story that has left a huge impact on me. Slipping into the role of Aliya was challenging and liberating at the same time. Exploring her journey, emotions, vulnerabilities, her strength, courage and her dire need to escape from a hostile environment taught me several things and changed my perspective towards many things.”
The makers of the show recently revealed the trailer and the official synopsis of the web show read, “When life hangs by a thread, a daring rescue mission becomes a battle against destiny.” The show also stars Sushant Singh, John Kokken, Gauri Balaji, Navneet Malik, Manjiri Faddnis and Sarah Jane Dias among others.
Created by Neeraj Pandey, the show is based on Shirish Thorat’s book A Ticket to Syria. It is helmed by Bhav Dhulia.
