The upcoming series Scam 2003: The Telgi Story will be released in just a few months, SonyLIV announced as the streaming platform completed three years. The Telgi Story is a follow-up to Hansal Mehta’s 2020 hit Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story. The Telgi Story is slated to start streaming on September 2 on SonyLIV.
After co-directing the first season with his son, Hansal Mehta will focus on showrunner duties this season, which is directed by Tushar Hiranandani. The series will tell the story of Abdul Karim Telgi, a counterfeiter who printed fake stamp paper. The scam, spread across multiple states, left the whole country in shock. The web series has been adapted from the Hindi book Reporter ki Diary, authored by journalist Sanjay Singh, who broke the story.

It was earlier announced that veteran theatre actor Gagan Dev Riar will play the lead role in the series. Scam 1992 introduced audiences to Pratik Gandhi, who received numerous accolades for his performance.
Mehta recently co-created and directed the Netflix crime drama series Scoop. Before that, he helmed the hostage thriller film Faraaz.
