Talking about her character Sakina, she shared that her performance would have had an effect by who played her on-screen partner. Lauding Kay Kay, she said, “Having him as a co-actor was a bonus. We worked together a really long time back. It was great, especially to have an actor who is so invested in the story, not just in his character but in a larger picture.”
She then said with a broad smile, “And because Kay Kay was here, I was also trying to impress him a bit. Him and Shujaat (director Shujaat Saudagar), who were a team. But it was a great time.”
Avinash, who plays her son in the show added that not just Nivedita but probably the entire cast was trying to impress the Farzi actor. Embarrassed at his team complimenting him, Kaykay took the mike and asked them to talk about the show.

Avinash Tiwary further spoke about his character Dara and how he wasn’t sure if he would be able to play the part. He said that when the script came to him and he was told what the show was about by Shujaat, he was scared. “I thought I didn’t have the capabilities to pull this. But Dara came from a place of hunger, who took those ladders that came his way to become a place of power. Yes, he is a gangster and faces consequences for the same. But it’s also about the internal story, relationships and family. The entire experience to play this part and become Bambai ka naya Badshah was pretty cool,” he added.
Against the backdrop of crime and gang war, this fictional series is said to be a captivating saga of an honest cop who sees his son choose the path of crime to overcome a life of poverty and struggle.
Bambai Meri Jaan is co-created by Rensil D’silva and Shujaat Saudagar.
