After the lukewarm response to Ante Sundaraniki, actor Nani and director Vivek Athreya decided to deliver a pucca masala-packed entertainer with Saripodhaa Sanivaaram. The actor-director duo have delivered on their promise with the film amassing a total of Rs 23.35 crore in the domestic box-office so far. The film, which opened to Rs 9 crore on Thursday, had an almost 35 per cent dip on Friday as it earned Rs 5.85 crore. However, the movie, which also stars SJ Suryah, Sai Kumar, and Priyanka Mohan, fought back with a whopping Rs 8.50 crore on Saturday, according to trade website, Sacnilk.

With the makers, DVV Entertainment, already announcing that the film made Rs 36.03 crore at the global box-office in 2 days, it is clear that Saripodhaa Sanivaaram might have breached the Rs 50 crore mark globally thanks to its blockbuster Saturday. The positive reviews for the Nani film is actually translating into box-office results as the trade expects Sunday to hold up the good work done on Saturday.
However, there is also the problem of weather playing spoilsport for the film’s prospects in the Telugu states. But if things ease up, the film could clearly be on track to become one of the biggest successes in Nani’s career.
With music by Jakes Bejoy, Saripodhaa Sanivaaram is shot by Murali G, and edited by Karthika Srinivas. Apart from the Telugu version, Saripodhaa Sanivaaram was also released in Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi, and was titled Surya’s Saturday.
