Prashanth Neel’s action drama, Salaar, featuring actors Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Jagapathi Babu, witnessed a drop in its box office numbers during the weekdays. On its second Friday, the film’s earnings dipped further as industry tracker Sanilk reported that it roughly collected Rs 10 crore, which amounts to a 17.35% drop from its Thursday collection (Rs 12.1 crore).
Salaar’s box office collection in India is Rs 318 crore nett. Globally, as per Manobala Vijayabalan, the film made Rs 542.63 crore in the first week. Owing to the pan-India popularity of Prabhas, the Hindi version of the film has alone contributed Rs 110.48 crore to the total collection of the film. However, the Telugu version is witnessing the maximum occupancy. On Friday, an overall 30.69% Telugu occupancy was recorded, with maximum footfall during the night shows. The Malayalam and Tamil occupancy is moderate at 19.20% and 19.45% respectively.
Though Salaar is performing better than Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki, which was released just a day ahead of the actioner, the weekday collection of the film has been underwhelming after a thunderous start. On the day of its release, Salaar had earned Rs 90.7 crore, which was followed by Rs 56.35 crore on Saturday and Rs 62.05 on Sunday. It ended its first week in the theatres with a collection of Rs 308 crore. Now, with the onset of the New Year weekend, the film will hopefully grow at the ticket counters to end its run in the cinema halls with an impressive total.
Cashing on the popularity of Salaar, the makers of Prabhas’ next announced the film on Friday. The actor is teaming up with director Maruthi for the film, which is said to be titled Raja Deluxe. A concept poster of the film was also unveiled on Friday. Maruthi wrote on X, “Excited and been waiting for this moment for a long time! Happy to present Rebel Star #Prabhas in a brand new avatar. See you all for Pongal.”
Meanwhile, Prabhas will be next seen in Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD.He will also be seen in a film by Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, titled Spirit.
