With Pushpa 2: The Rule breaking records in its golden run at the box-office, Mythri Movie Makers, who backed the Allu Arjun film, were aiming to close the year with yet another blockbuster offing from their banner. It was earlier announced that Robinhood, directed by Venky Kudumula, and headlined by Nithiin and Sreeleela, would hit the screens on December 25. However, the makers announced that the movie will miss out on this release date.
The statement read, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Robinhood will not be releasing on December 25 as planned. A new release date will be announced soon. Hold on to your excitement.” The makers also promised that the “adventurous entertainer will be worth the wait.” With Sankranthi holidays already reserved by films like Game Changer and Daaku Maharaj, it is not sure which release window would the makers aim at for the Nithiin film.
Here’s the post:
Venky, who made his directorial debut with Chalo, and followed it up with Nithiin’s Bheeshma, has an interesting Pushpa connect in all his three films. While the obvious one is of course the Pushpa producers backing Robinhood, the other one is that Pushpa’s Srivalli, Rashmika Mandanna, played the lead in Chalo and Bheeshma, and it is the turn of the “Kissik” Sreeleela to star in Robinhood. Interestingly, Robinhood was launched as the next film of the VNR trio — Venky, Nithiin and Rashmika — but she had to drop out of the project due to scheduling conflicts.
With music by GV Prakash Kumar, and cinematography by Sai Sriram, Robinhood marks the second collaboration between Nithiin and Sreeleela after the 2023 film, Extraordinary Man, directed by Vakkantham Vamsi.
Staying true to the title, Robinhood is billed as a vigilante film that has a decent dose of humour. Apart from Nithiin and Sreeleela, Robinhood also stars Shine Tom Chacko, Vennela Kishore and Rajendra Prasad in pivotal roles.
