After months of speculation and making headlines for the wrong reasons following the exit of actor Deepika Padukone, controversial director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Prabhas-starrer Spirit finally went on floors on Sunday, November 23. The makers of the film organised a grand muhurat ceremony on the day, marking the commencement of the shooting for Spirit’s first schedule. Telugu megastar Chiranjeevi attended the event as the chief guest, adding an extra dose of glitz.
Now, a report has surfaced claiming that Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor, who played the lead role in Sandeep Vanga’s previous directorial venture Animal, will make a special cameo appearance in Spirit, adding to the hype around the movie. According to a Deccan Chronicle report, Ranbir will step onto the screen in the Prabhas-starrer at a crucial point in the narrative, playing an integral part in its progress.

“Ranbir will come into the picture at a crucial juncture of the storytelling. It will be a turning point in the plot and a historic moment in Indian cinema since he has never shared screen space with Prabhas,” the publication quoted one of its sources as saying. Bankrolled jointly by Bhushan Kumar, Pranay Reddy Vanga, and Krishan Kumar under the banners of T-Series Films and Bhadrakali Pictures, Spirit also features Triptii Dimri, Vivek Oberoi, Prakash Raj, and Kanchana in key roles.
Sharing photos from the muhurat ceremony on social media, Sandeep Vanga wrote, “Heartfelt thank you to our MEGASTAR CHIRANJEEVI sir for blessing the event with his presence. Sir….. your gesture is unforgettable — we all love you.” Triptii Dimri, who previously replaced Deepika Padukone as Spirit’s female lead, was also present on the occasion.

Although Prabhas was absent, Vanga later shared a photo of the actor holding the movie’s clapboard. “Dear fans… I thought PRABHAS anna’s hands were enough to EXCITE YOU ALL…… So on this muhurath day, I’m posting this for you — with gratitude and love. SPIRIT,” he wrote.
While Spirit had been making headlines ever since initial reports emerged, it found itself embroiled in controversy subsequently after Deepika backed out of the movie, reportedly due to disagreement over her demand for an eight-hour workday. Later, she also exited the sequel to Kalki AD 2898, headlined by Prabhas himself.
