Ram Charan has been enjoying one of the best years of his personal as well as professional life. Earlier this year, the actor attended the Oscars with the RRR team, which eventually won the award for the Best Original Song. The team went through months of promotions in the US and now, Ram has opened up about how director SS Rajamouli was a strict taskmaster through it all. Even on the day of the Oscar ceremony, which is held in the evening, Rajamouli wanted the whole team to be up by 7 am so they are ready on time.
In a recent chat with Tanmay Bhat on Meesho’s YouTube channel, Ram was asked about the Oscar day and the actor recalled, “Rajamouli considered it a part of the shoot. ‘Morning, 7 o’clock, all of us, fresh huh?'” he recalled the director’s instructions. Ram shared that they made it a point to not turn up late. “This is not your south Indian media or Bombay media. Here, they can rip you apart. Because we are underdogs going for the first time and they really love underdogs in Hollywood,” he said.
Ram said that had they turned up late, people would have termed them as arrogant. “I think if you lose, that one day if you come late, (they would say) ‘He thinks he is Richard Gere already, or he’s George Clooney.’ That, I didn’t want to hear,” he shared. Ram said that his routine during these days had him following the rule of ‘Sleep tight, sleep early’. “So yeah, we used to go to restaurants, have dinner, sleep,” he said.
Ram Charan and Jr NTR along with director SS Rajamouli gave numerous appearances as a part of the promotions. Since then, Ram has been enjoying a great time back home.
He and his wife Upasana recently welcomed their daughter Klin Kaara. In a recently shared video, Ram said, “Lot of people, lot of stress, eleven years got over, people would ask what are these two doing? I guess everything finds its own place in time. And this baby found its time then. And it happened.”
