Pushpa 2 Box Office Collection Day 3: In 2024, we have seen many big-ticket and much-hyped films not living up to the hype when it comes to box-office collections. However, no such thing happened to Pushpa 2 that seemed to have ticked all the right boxes from Day 1. Pushpa 2: The Rule capitalised on the success of the original, and the team undertook a whirlwind tour of promotions to reach out to the audience who were huge patrons of the original. And voila! On December 5, when Sukumar’s much-awaited sequel finally hit theatres after various delays, controversies, and speculations, people lapped it up like all of it didn’t matter at all.
On Day 1, Pushpa 2 made a whopping Rs 282.91 crore at the global box office, and beat the likes of RRR and Baahubali. On Day 2, while there was a dip in the numbers in the domestic market, the overall collections ensured the film crossed the Rs 400 crore mark, and broke a few more records on the way. On Day 3, Pushpa 2 picked up steam, and amassed Rs 115 crore at the domestic box-office, and it is safe to assume that the movie would have breached the Rs 600 crore mark worldwide in just three days since the release.
Such has been the success of Pushpa 2: The Rule that the lifetime collections of its predecessor was surpassed on Day 3 itself. The numbers also establish the fact that a pan-Indian film coming from the South has to appeal to the Hindi market if they want to see such numbers. The true strength of Pushpa 2 has been the patronage from the Hindi audience for the action drama. Out of the Rs 115 crore earned at the domestic box-office, the Hindi version has contributed a whopping 73.5 crore, with the Telugu version bringing in Rs 31.5 crore, and the rest made up by Tamil (Rs 7.5 crore), Malayalam (Rs 1.5 crore), and Kannada (Rs 0.8 crore).
While it was expected that Pushpa 2 will pull above its weight in the Hindi belt, these numbers are unprecedented. In fact, even in the Rs 383 crore earned in the domestic box-office over three days, the Hindi version has contributed 52% with Rs 200.7 crore and the Telugu version has collected Rs 151.05 crore. The real surprise has been the drop in the Malayalam numbers, which was considered to be a sure shot source of revenue. Over three days, it has only garnered Rs 8.5 crore.

With multiple records being broken by this golden run of Pushpa 2, including biggest opening for any Indian film (beating RRR), and largest opening of a Hindi film (beating Jawan), Sunday numbers are expected to push the envelope further. The Rs 1000 crore lifetime run might happen much sooner than expected too.
Directed by Sukumar, the film features Allu Arjun in the titular role, and Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil reprising their roles from the original. With music and background score by Devi Sri Prasad, and additional background music by Sam CS, Pushpa 2 was made on a budget of Rs 400 crore.
