Earlier, Lauren had expressed her excitement about performing on the Oscars stage. She had written on Instagram, “I’m beyond excited to represent India on the most prestigious stage in the world. Wish me luck!!! 🙏🏽💕💕💕 ”
Keeravaani ‘s ‘Naatu Naatu’ is competing against Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Mitski and David Byrne and Diane Warren. The fans of the song expected Ram Charan and NTR Jr to perform on the song. But, both of them didn’t get time to rehearse hence they decided against it.
Speaking with KTLA ahead of the Oscars, NTR Jr said, “I was looking forward for it to happen. But, unfortunately, we didn’t have time to rehearse. Because we don’t want to go on to the biggest stage in the world and go unprepared. So, we were busy, I was busy and so was maybe Charan busy with a lot of prior commitments back home.”
‘Naatu Naatu’ sent the audience into a frenzy when it played in the cinema halls, not just in India but in international theaters as well. Many danced to the song in the aisles. On YouTube, the song got over 124 million views and also became a viral sensation on social media. The song won big at the 80th Golden Globe Awards as MM Keeravaani picked up the Best Original Song trophy.
The 95th Academy Awards were hosted by comedian Jimmy Kimmel.
