Actor, producer, entrepreneur, gaming enthusiast, distributor, VFX artist, and a talk show host. The multi-faceted Rana Daggubati’s new show, which is simply titled The Rana Daggubati Show, recently premiered on Amazon Prime Video. Hosted by Rana, the show is set to bring in an interesting set of names from South Cinema, and the first episode, featuring Nani, Teja Sajja, and Priyanka Mohan began streaming on Saturday.
In the 30-minute show, Nani and Priyanka joined Rana and Teja, who were prepping to host the recently concluded IIFA show. The easy-going nature of Rana comes in handy in this format because he allows his guests to be at ease, and it feels less like a talk show, and more of being a fly on the wall in one of their get-togethers.

Nani and Rana Daggubati, who have developed an enviable friendship over the years, discussed a lot of things about each other, especially the ‘family man’ image of the Jersey star. In a seamless segue into each of their real estate deals, Nani spoke about having a farmhouse in Chevella, 40-odd kilometres from Hyderabad city, where his father does small-time farming. “We cultivate vegetables, rear cattle, and it is my father who takes care of everything,” said Nani, adding that his son Arjun aka Junnu has named all the cows. “There is Bheem, Radha, Krishna, etc… We often go there to chill out. But I’ve seen it transform my 101-year-old grandfather,” he added.
Nani revealed that living in the city brought with it a lot of ailments for his grandfather. “I bought the land when he was 96. He was someone who grew up among nature, right? I wanted to give him the energy from trees, and a familiar atmosphere. He used to have memory issues at home. Now, he goes for walks and does exercises. There used to be a time when he couldn’t recollect a lot of things, now he recognises my movies, names, etc…” shared the actor, who beautifully summed it up by saying, “Birds should stay in their own habitat. It is special to have a nice, peaceful space.”
Moving on from real estate, Nani and Rana Daggubati discussed the need for developing a sense of camaraderie among actors just like how it was in previous generations. In fact, Rana brought up the topic by saying how two of his very good friends, who were very close to each other too, have drifted off due to a rather silly reason, and ego. “Is it because of hectic careers? Why are many actors unapproachable after a point?” asked Nani, insisting that people like Rana could take the initiative to bring people together.
Rana pointed out that his father and legendary producer D Ramanaidu once said, “When we are young, we have fights, and 30-40 years later, we realise that those are the only people we know, but it is too late to mend that gap. So, if you don’t make friends when young, it is impossible to remain so later.” Vehemently agreeing to this school of thought, Nani said, “Imagine you are studying in the same school for 15 years… you will have thick friends, right? We should have been close, right?”
