Actors Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala made headlines last year when they surprised fans by sharing pictures from their engagement in August, followed by a wedding ceremony in December at Annapurna Studios — a family legacy founded by Chaitanya’s grandfather, legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao. The actor recently opened up about his love story during his appearance on Jagapathi Babu’s ZEE5 talk show Jayammu Nischayammu Raa, revealing that he met Sobhita through Instagram.
He recalled, “We met on Instagram. I never imagined I would meet my partner there. I was familiar with her work. One day, when I posted about Shoyu (his cloud kitchen), she commented with an emoji. I began chatting with her, and soon after, we met.”
During a rapid-fire round, when Jagapathi Babu asked Naga Chaitanya to name one thing he can’t live without, Chaitanya instantly replied, “Sobhita, my wife!”
The actor also shared a lighthearted anecdote about how Sobhita Dhulipala wasn’t too pleased with one of the songs in his recent film Thandel, which became his first Rs 100 crore hit. “She was angry with me because of the song ‘Bujji Thalli’. It’s actually the nickname I have given her. She thought I had asked the director (Chandoo Mondeti) to use it in the film. She didn’t talk to me for a few days — but why would I do that?”
Naga Chaitanya was previously married to actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The two tied the knot in 2017 but announced their separation in 2021. Dhulipala married Sobhita Dhulipala in 2024, while Samantha is reportedly dating her Family Man director Raj Nidimoru.
