There is a certain focus to how actor Mrunal Thakur is shaping her Telugu cinema career. After a blockbuster debut with the epoch romcom Sita Ramam, she starred alongside Nani in Hi Nanna and Vijay Deverakonda in The Family Star. Both these films offered her a strong role that helped her broaden the public’s perception of her versatility. Now, after signing a handful of Hindi movies, including Son of Sardaar 2, Mrunal is back to Telugu with Adivi Sesh’s Dacoit.
Incidentally, the project, helmed by cinematographer-turned-director Shaneil Deo, was announced with Shruti Haasan in the lead role. However, after she decided to step out of the project, Mrunal has been roped in for the action film.
Announcing the cast change, Adivi Sesh shared posters of Dacoit featuring both the actors, and wrote, “Yes, you loved.. But you also betrayed me. I have to avenge it.” These posters assert that Dacoit will be an action drama slathered with a strong romantic story at the core of it.

Backed by Supriya Yarlagadda, Dacoit will have music by Bheems Ceciroleo and cinematography by Danush Bhaskar. Incidentally, Shaneil, who is turning director with this project, has worked with Adivi in films like Kshanam and Goodachari. The movie is said to be made in Telugu and Hindi, and is expected to be dubbed and released in multiple languages, including Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada.
Apart from Dacoit, Adivi Sesh is currently working on G2, the much-awaited sequel to Goodachari (2018).
