Lucky Baskhar trailer: “Money is more intoxicating than cigarettes, alcohol and drugs,” Baskhar (Dulquer Salmaan) declares, setting the tone for the upcoming Telugu crime thriller Lucky Baskhar. On Monday, the makers of the movie unveiled a 153-second trailer, offering a glimpse into the world Baskhar was born into, the world he forged for himself and the world destiny is taking him towards.
The trailer opens with a few retro shots, showing Baskhar Kumar introducing himself. “I get a salary of Rs 6,000 a month from my bank. Despite living on the borderline of poverty, Sumathi (Meenakshi Chaudhary), paying no heed to her parents’ opposition, left her home and came with me, and now she’s my wife… my strength,” he says as we see the couple enjoying a romantic dance in front of the historic Charminar. We also get a glimpse of the two with their son, navigating life with what little they have.
However, as the trailer progresses, the mood shifts dramatically as money becomes a major problem in Baskhar’s life, leaving him with no option but to pursue wealth. “There is nothing wrong with taking as many risks as needed for your family,” he declares, and soon we see him amassing wealth. Though the trailer doesn’t reveal how he is making money, it teases that his methods aren’t lawful. This leads to a change in his character and attitude. “Why do you sound so arrogant?” Sumathi asks, to which Baskhar replies, “It’s not arrogance; it’s courage.” When she points out that he has become a bad person, he states, “I am not bad; I am just rich,” underscoring how wealth can change a person for better or worse.
Written and directed by Venky Atluri, Lucky Baskhar is produced by S. Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under the banner of Sithara Entertainments. The film boasts cinematography by Nimish Ravi, editing by Naveen Nooli and music by GV Prakash Kumar. Lucky Baskhar will hit the screens on October 31.
