Jr NTR and Ram Charan represented RRR at the Vanity Fair Oscars party, held immediately after the 95th Academy Awards concluded. Director SS Rajamouli’s action epic won the Oscar for Best Original Song, a first for an Indian production. Jr NTR and Ram Charan both attended the Academy Awards, along with Rajamouli, composer MM Keeravani, lyricist Chandrabose, and choreographer Prem Rakshith.
The two stars were photographed arriving for the Vanity Fair party, a tradition on Oscars night in Hollywood. Jr NTR wore a black jacket with a golden tiger emblazoned on it, while Ram Charan wore a green jacket. Other celebrities spotted at the event include Donatella Versace, Christina Aguilera, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner and Hailey Bieber. Pictures and videos of Jr NTR posing for photographers have been shared online.
Previously, a video of him and Charan embracing each other after the RRR song “Naatu Naatu” was announced as the winner was also widely shared online. Another video showed Rajamouli leaping to his feet in joy. In his speech, MM Keeravani sang a self-composed version of The Carpenters’ Song “Top of the World,” in which he thanked the director and India.
Reacting to RRR’s victory, Jr NTR told Variety at the party, “It was a very emotional moment. I roared. It’s not about RRR, it’s about India as a country. RRR is the representation of where India is going to head.”
RRR became a major box office success in India, before becoming a cult hit among American audiences after its streaming debut. “Naatu Naatu,” has picked up several precursor awards in the run up to the Oscars, while both Rajamouli and RRR were also honoured at multiple ceremonies.
It was a big night for India overall. In addition to RRR’s win, The Elephant Whisperers won the Oscar for Best Documentary Short, and Shaunak Sen’s All that Breathes was nominated for the Best Documentary Feature.
