Jr NTR, Nani, Prakash Raj slam Konda Surekha’s statement on Samantha-Naga Chaitanya divorce: ‘We won’t sit quietly’

On Wednesday, Telangana politician Konda Surekha alleged that KTR played a role in the divorce of Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya. Now, KTR and other celebrities have reacted to her comments.

Former couple Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya parted ways in 2021. However, their separation was brought up recently by Telangana Minister Konda Surekha, who implied that it was caused by the involvement of politician KT Rama Rao, aka KTR. Her remark, which she has now retracted, outraged many in the film industry, including Jr NTR, Nani, Prakash Raj, and Chinmayi Sripaada, as well as KTR himself.

Soon after Konda Surekha’s statement surfaced online, KTR issued a statement on X and wrote, “Served legal notices to the Minister; Disgusting & Nauseating politics by Congress.” He further requested Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to send Konda Surekha to a “mental health specialist or a rehabilitation therapist”.

Similarly, Devara star Jr NTR expressed his anger, and wrote on X, “Konda Surekha garu, dragging personal lives into politics is a new low.” He added, “It’s disheartening to see baseless statements thrown around carelessly, especially about the film industry. We will not sit quietly while others make baseless allegations against us. Let’s ensure our society does not normalize such reckless behavior in democratic India.”

Chinmayi Sripaada, on her X account, called out “multiple individuals, Telugu YouTube channels, and media persons for using Samantha’s name for their own mileage, agenda, and to make money from click baits and views.”

Hi Nanna star Nani shared a strong statement against Konda Surekha, writing, “Disgusting to see politicians thinking that they can get away talking any kind of nonsense. When your words can be so irresponsible it’s stupid of us to expect that you will have any responsibility for your people.” He added, “It is not okay for someone in such a respectable position to talk such utter baseless rubbish in front of media and think that it is okay.”

Veteran actor, and Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader, Prakash Raj, questioned Konda Surekha’s mindset and wrote on X, “What shameless politics… women who act in movies are small?”

Konda Surekha’s statement has received a lot of backlash online. Actors Samantha and Naga Chaitanya had earlier dismissed the “baseless” claims. Samantha, in a note, warned Konda Surekha to “keep her out of politics”. Meanwhile, Naga Chaitanya had written in a separate note, “Exploiting the personal life decisions of celebrities for the sake of media headlines is shameful.” Other members of the Akkineni family, including Nagarjuna’s second wife Amala Akkineni, his brother Akhil Akkineni, and Nagarjuna himself, asked Konda Surekha to “withdraw” her comments “immediately”.

After all the backlash, she took to her official X handle to retract her statement. She said, “My comments are meant to question a leader’s belittling of women and not to hurt your sentiments, Samantha. The way you have grown up with self-power is not only an admiration for me.. but also an ideal. If you or your fans are offended by my comments, I unconditionally retract my comments.. Don’t think otherwise.”

Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya tied the knot in Goa in 2017. However, four years later, the couple announced their separation in a joint post in 2021.
