Samantha Ruth Prabhu recently received the Woman of the Year award at IIFA Utsavam 2024 in Dubai. The event was attended by Rishabh Shetty, Vicky Kaushal, Aishwarya Rai, Ananya Panday, Mani Ratnam, Mrunal Thakur, and Siva Karthikeya, among others. Actors Rana Daggubati, and HanuMan star Teja Sajja hosted the show. After receiving the award from Vicky Kaushal, Samantha gave an emotional speech. However, Rana, who shares a close bond with the actress cracked a joke or two on her, leaving every body in splits. “She went from being my sister-in-law to sister”, he said.
After receiving the award, Samantha Ruth Prabhu in her speech said, “It’s good to be back. It has been a while. I have taken a long break but, guess what? I am back! As a woman, as an actor, it’s been a path which is filled with highs and extreme highs, but definitely challenges. I have heard no, maybe quite a few times. Maybe your dream are too big, maybe they are too hard, but I guess that’s where I learnt the true meaning of perseverance. I think this award is not just for me but every woman, who has dared to dream, who has faced obstacles, and has broken boundaries. This is for every young girl, who knows it is in her power to write and rewrite her own story.”
She added, “What I have learnt in this journey is that the fiercest battles are the ones within ourselves and the greatest strength is when we find a way back up again and again. Because you just got to rise back up, no matter how many ever times to fall, or how many ever times they set you up to fall, rise back up! I want to tell every women, You are way more powerful than you can ever imagine. Keep dreaming, keep going and never ever doubt yourself.”
After the speech, Samantha was about to leave the stage when Rana stopped her. She said, “I just gave an emotional speech, don’t do comedy now.” To this, Rana replied, “Samantha went from Tollywood to Hollywood (Citadel: Honey Bunny). Went from my sister-in-law to sister.” This left the actress and the audience in splits.
Rana then pulled her leg as he pointed out that the actress has not been doing any Telugu film lately. She said, “If I do a film, it should be like Narasimha Naidu, not Rana Naidu.” Rana then corrected her, “That’s not cinema, it’s a show. They told me you can do anything on it. I learnt that from Family Man.”
Rana further revealed the names he gave her previously. He said, “I have called her Samantha Ruthless Prabhu since we were kids. But where did comedy Sam go?” She replied, “Comedy Sam, controversial Sam… she went to sleep; good night.”
Samantha Ruth Prabhu is gearing up for the streaming of her Prime Video show, Citadel: Honey Bunny. The show also features Varun Dhawan in the lead role.
