Actor Adivi Sesh’s Telugu spy blockbuster Goodachari completed five years of its release on Thursday. On the occasion, Sesh posted a gratitude note and also announced that the 2018 film’s sequel, G2, is in the post-production stage.
In the gratitude note, the actor thanked fans for the love they showered on Goodachari, and promised G2 will be “a blockbuster action spectacle on a grand scale”. He wrote in the note, “A film that brought back the spy genre to South Indian Cinema. A film that broke barriers. A film that became a trendsetter. Goodachari enjoys a fan base that continues to shower us with so much love everyday. This increases the responsibility on the franchise and we are hard at work to give you a BLOCKBUSTER ACTION SPECTACLE ON A GRAND SCALE.”
The note further read, “Our goal isn’t just to give you a thrilling action extravaganza. it is to bring you a G2 beyond expectations. A G2 that doesn’t just go national. IT WILL GO INTERNATIONAL. With pre-production happening in three different countries. We can’t wait to go to sets soon. AGENT 116 WILL REPORT FOR DUTY!”
Goodachari, directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka, revolved around a young spy who gets falsely framed in a case.
Interestingly, on the same day as Goodachari’s release, Adivi Sesh’s close friend, and National Award-winning filmmaker Rahul Ravindran’s Chi La Sow also hit screens.
Rahul took to social media to remember the clash between the two films. His funny tweet also referenced the recent Barbie and Oppenheimer box office clash.
Rahul tweeted “Exactly 5 years since poor man’s version of Barbenheimer happened in TFI… Goolasow. We still keep getting love on social media… truly grateful Catch these films on Prime and Sunnxt respectively if you haven’t yet…”
G2 is being directed by debutant Vinay Kumar Sirigineedi. The film is being jointly produced by TG Vishwa Prasad and Abhishek Agarwal under the banners of People Media Factory, Abhishek Agarwal Arts and AK Entertainments India Pvt Ltd.
