Woody Allen’s series titled Crisis in Six Scenes

Allen, 80, also stars in the series and will play a writer named Sidney Muntzinger. According to a sneak peek shown at the TCA, he will get a James Dean haircut.

He will also clash with Cyrus character.

Woody Allen has won four Academy Awards: three for Best Original Screenplay and one for Best Director (Annie Hall). He has also won nine British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards. His screenplay for Annie Hall was named the funniest screenplay by the Writers Guild of America in its list of the “101 Funniest Screenplays.” In 2011, PBS televised the film biography, Woody Allen: A Documentary, on the American Masters TV series.

For many years, Woody Allen wanted to make a film about the origins of jazz in New Orleans. The film, tentatively titled American Blues, would follow the vastly different careers of Louis Armstrong and Sidney Bechet. Allen stated that the film would cost between $80 and $100 million and is therefore unlikely to be made.

At the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, Allen said, in reference to his upcoming Amazon show, “It was a catastrophic mistake. I don’t know what I’m doing. I’m floundering. I expect this to be a cosmic embarrassment.”

On January 25, 2016, Allen was confirmed to be starring in the series, Crisis in Six Scenes, alongside Elaine May and Miley Cyrus.
