Actor Vaibhavi Upadhyaya, who passed away on Monday, was traveling in the mountains with her fiance Jay Gandhi when their car unfortunately met with an accident. Now, producer JD Majethia has shared that at the time of the accident, Vaibhavi was not wearing a seatbelt.
He told Viral Bhayani’s Instagram handle, “She was in Himachal with her fiance. They were to marry in December. Their car was at a turn and the road was quite narrow. They stopped to let a truck pass. As the truck was passing them, it nudged the car and it slid into the valley. It toppled and she was not wearing a seatbelt.” Majethia added that the accident took place on Monday, May 22. He also mentioned that head injury, internal bleeding or shock could be the reasons for her death.
Vaibhavi’s friend, actor Akangsha Rawat, shared with The Times of India that Vaibhavi’s brother Ankit informed her about the details of the accident. “There are reports that they were speeding and the car lost control, but it is not true. A truck hit them from the side while turning and that caused the car to slip into the valley,” she said.
Vaibhavi worked with Majethia on Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and in a chat The Times of India, the producer said that when he cast her on the second season of the show, he had complete confidence that Vaibhavi would pull off her part amidst the seasoned actors who were a part of that show. In the same interview, Majethia recalled that they once forgot to invite Vaibhavi to one of the informal reunions but she reposted their group photo on her social media. “I called her and apologised that I hadn’t invited her. After that, she was a regular in our midst; she was family to me,” he said.
Majethia added, “Vaibhavi was always high on life. She used to tell me to remake Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and wanted to be a part of that. So many things that we spoke about have all gone up in smoke.”
