Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC) actor Gurucharan Singh, who played the role of Roshan Singh Sodhi, caused a wave of concern among his fans after he went missing in April 2024. The actor returned almost a month later and explained that he had been on a spiritual journey, which is why he was unreachable. In a recent interaction, Gurucharan spoke about meeting TMKOC’s producer, Asit Kumarr Modi, after returning to Mumbai.
Speaking about his decision to meet the producer, he said, “When this incident happened, I received a message from Asit Kumarr Modi asking me to call him. When I came back, I met with everyone who was concerned about me and who reached out to me. Since he has been my producer and has given me this work, I went to meet him.”
Gurucharan Singh also revealed that before going on his spiritual journey, he had met the current and former cast members of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. He said, “Before I went, I met Dilip Joshi at a common friend’s wedding. Before that, I met Mandar Chandwadkar and his family at Dilip Joshi’s son’s wedding. I also met Mayur Vakani, who plays the role of Sundar in the show. I met Disha Vakani and her family as well. I also met Balu, who is now playing the role of Sodhi on the show. He asked me to click a photo with him, and we had Dilip Joshi standing between us. The three of us took a photo together. I don’t have a problem with anyone. They started working before me, so I think of them as my seniors.”
Many speculations emerged after Gurucharan’s disappearance, claiming that the actor vanished due to financial burdens. However, in the same interview, Gurucharan clarified that he took the journey because his loved ones had hurt him. He said, “I didn’t disappear because I was in debt or because of my inability to repay a loan.” The actor added, “There comes a time when you distance yourself from your family and the world. I had been hurt by my near and dear ones, despite trying to get work. I was continuously facing rejections. Having said that, I knew, no matter what happens, I was not going to think of suicide.”
