The combination of Sunil Grover and Kapil Sharma has its own set of fans. Sunil built his fanbase with his portrayals of Guthi and Dr Mashoor Gulati on Kapil’s shows. However, their collaboration came to an end after their infamous fallout in 2017 while onboard a flight.

Sunil Grover launched his own comedy show later, for which he also teamed up with Krushna Abhishek. However, it failed to achieve the sort of popularity that The Kapil Sharma Show (TKSS) enjoys. In fact, Krushna also joined Kapil for a while on the show.

In 2020, when the news of Sunil Grover undergoing heart surgery came out, Kapil talked to him and wished him well. The two had then maintained that they would work together in the future if any exciting opportunity comes up.

In a new interview, Sunil was asked if he is open to working with Kapil Sharma again. Sunil was reminded that Kapil, in interviews over the years, shared that Sunil is welcomed on his show. “Abhi to aisa koi…ya to pujhwalo fir aap (there is nothing like that, or ask him then),” Sunil told HT.

Sunil Grover, who is busy with the promotions of his new comedy series United Kachhe and also upcoming film Jawan, alongside Shah Rukh Khan,  added, “I am also busy right now and enjoying what I am doing. He is also busy and doing good work. I am also doing good work. I have already enjoyed my phase of non-fiction and am currently liking the fiction setup, gaining new experiences as a performer. I am having fun. There are no such plans right now.”

Although Sunil never returned to TKSS, he was seen making a comeback as Dr Mashoor Gulati in India’s Laughter Champion. “I wanted to do it for myself. I enjoyed dressing up as Doctor Mashoor Gulati after a long time. It was only for one episode. That’s all, and I love it,” he shared in an old interview.
