Rupali Ganguly is now widely known for playing Anupamaa Shah in the Star Plus show Anupamaa but the actor has been actively working in the television industry since the early 2000s. Before taking up the show, Rupali had been out of action for a while and she recently shared that her life was more “hectic and stressful” when she was “just a homemaker”.

Rupali, in a chat with Pinkvilla, said, “My life was more hectic and it was more stressful when I was just a homemaker for those six and a half years.” Rupali shared that she would wake up before everyone else and even though no one told her to do that, she did it because that is what women are conditioned to do. “Like wake up before everyone else. No one told me to, my husband really pampers me. But inherently that is the way we have been brought up and that is our conditioning,” she said.

The Sarabhai vs Sarabhai actor said that planning the entire day’s meals that could be enjoyed by each member of the family, taking care of the house and the chores would take up her entire day and it was a tiring job overall. She added that as an actor, she just has to get ready and act, which comes naturally to her.

“When I have to shoot, you have to be on set, do your make up and act. It comes easy and naturally to me. I do get tired at time but it is something that I love,” she said. Rupali added that this has given her an identity and financial independence that has empowered her.

The actor mentioned that during her break of six and a half years, she got many offers from television but most of them involved her playing the role of the hero’s mother. “The six and a half years I was sitting at home, I was getting some fantastic offers from TV. But it’s hero ki maa, because the heroes are all 20 year olds,” she said. Rupali shared that she chose not to take up these offers because she wanted to enjoy motherhood at that time.

Anupamaa, where Rupali Ganguly plays the title role, recently completed its 1000 episodes and is one of the most successful shows on television at the moment.
