If there’s one show that the world collectively wants back on screen, it’s Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai. The comedy series helmed by JD Majethia and Aatish Kapadia starred Ratna Pathak Shah, Satish Shah, Rupali Ganguly, Sumeet Raghavan and Rajesh Kumar. It depicted the everyday issues between families and how two women – one from the sophisticated sect, the other a typical middle class – clashed over everything under the roof. On Tuesday, Rupali shared a video of her dining with a few cast members, and the post left fans nostalgic to the core.

The video opens with Rupali entering the restaurant and hugging Satish and Rajesh, as they greeted her. They then indulge in an animated conversation. The team then posed for photos and enjoyed the food together. “Some friendships last a lifetime!! #friendslikefamily #sarabhais,” the Anupamaa actor captioned the video.

While fans were excited to see them together, many were quick to question Sahil Sarabhai aka Sumeet’s absence from the reunion. Some of the comments on Rupali’s video read, “What abt sahil sarabhai??????”, “Wow this is best things I saw today The reunion of SVS is always a best things to watch”, “Caught in 42 secs 😍😍😍. …so so happy to see sarabhai family together after so long…🤧💞” and “Wow, this is so amazing seeing u together as a family once again 🤗 we love you all, and I love you so much RG 🥰 be blessed 😘🙏.”

Sarabhai vs Sarabhai to make a comeback?

While fans have been waiting to see a new season of Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Rajesh Kumar earlier told indianexpress.com how everyone has been busy with work, and the probability to do it anytime soon seems bleak. “Uss baare mein baat nahi horahi hai (We aren’t talking about it yet). Let’s wait, jab hoga tab hoga (when it has to happen, it will),” he shared while talking about the show making a comeback.

The show launched in 2004 and had a good run for more than two years. Amid requests, demands and even threats, the makers decided to bring the show back, as a digital property in 2017. However, the season failed to recreate the magic of original. But that hasn’t deterred ardent fans from messaging creators for another season.

Reflecting on what could have gone wrong for the second season that it did not yield a better response, Rajesh told us, “(The craze for) OTT was not as much as it is today. Sarabhai vs Sarabhai was anyway ahead of its time. It’s been 20 years and we are still talking about it. But when it came to OTT, that wasn’t the right time for web shows. But I do believe, if the content is good, it does manage to get an audience.”
