After publicly sharing details about the ups and downs in their marriage over the last couple of years, Sushmita Sen’s brother Rajeev Sen and television actor Charu Asopa have announced that they are formally divorced.
Rajeev, on Thursday, took to social media to inform his followers about the development. Taking to Instagram stories, Rajeev shared a happy picture with Charu, and wrote, “There are no goodbyes! Just two people who just couldn’t hold on to each other.” Rajeev also shared that the two of them will be cordial with each other and continue co-parenting their daughter Ziana. He wrote, “Love will stay, We will always remain mom and dad to our daughter 🙏.”
Rajeev and Charu have been conscious about the well-being of their two-year-old daughter. In an interview with BollywoodLife, Rajeev had said, “For everyone’s well-being, their peace of mind is important, especially if they have children. It’s important that Ziana sees good things around her, she should see both of us happy”.
Charu, while talking to The Times of India, had commented on the divorce, and had said how she doesn’t want Ziana to see them unhappy, because this could “become toxic for her as well”. She also shared that while Ziana will primarily live with her, Rajeev “can meet her whenever he wants.” She also said, “If he wants, I can drop Ziana at his place, and I recently sent Ziana to be with her father. That’s not a problem.”
Rajeev and Charu tied the knot on June 16, 2019. They embraced parenthood in 2021, and had often come close to splitting up earlier as well.
