Raghu Ram, who rose to fame as the creator of MTV Roadies, opened up about shedding his past personality and embracing a quieter, kinder version of himself after the birth of his child. In an interview, Raghu also spoke in detail about his separation from first wife Sugandha Garg, and said that she was the first person he told about his current wife, Natalie Di Luccio.
Appearing on the Untriggered with AminJaz podcast, Raghu said that he would project anger on TV as a defence mechanism, and that he is actually a non-confrontational person in real life. Raghu also revealed that his wife’s family held an intervention before their marriage, after they realised what he was known for being on television. “In her family, there is one Indian. They realised that she’s getting married to Raghu. There was an intervention, where the women of the family cornered Natalie’s mom and let loose on her. ‘What’s wrong with you? How can you let your daughter do this? Maybe she likes being slapped around, but how can you let her do this? He’s the most abusive guy in India.'”

Raghu’s mother-in-law was shocked, because to her eyes, he was ‘the sweetest guy’. “This really happened. Because of Roadies Raghu, there was a huge issue with Natalie and her family,” he said, explaining that he has now shed that version of himself for his own good. “I went through my divorce, which we call an uncoupling, because Kuhu and I are friends. We were friends, we got married, we f****d up the friendship. After that, I was single, I met Natalie, and we clicked. The first person I told was Kuhu.”
Raghu admitted that the separation was very hard on him. “They say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, my divorce nearly killed me. I am stronger, and now, I have more clarity about relationships, and what a man can do in a relationship than ever before,” he said, adding that he has discovered that he has a ‘type’, but isn’t sure if that’s shallow of him. “I was married to Kuhu, who is from Rajasthan. She’s dusky, she’s beautiful, she’s an actor. She acts, she sings, she writes. I’m now married to Natalie Di Luccio. She’s from Toronto, she’s of Italian descent. Their personalities are very different. I guess I have a type, but it’s nothing to do with physical appearance.”
Raghu and Natalie welcomed their first child in 2020, a son named Rhythm. He said in the interview that he has changed greatly since then, and avoids consuming social media, the news, and stays away from subjects like religion and politics.
