Pranit More is a contestant on Bigg Boss 19, hosted by Salman Khan. The stand-up comedian, who previously worked as an RJ, made headlines earlier this year after being attacked during a live show for making jokes about actor Veer Pahariya. While Pranit took immediate legal action, he has largely kept a low profile since the incident. Ahead of entering the Salman Khan-hosted Bigg Boss 19, Pranit More told SCREEN exclusively that he isn’t joining the show to clear his stand. He also reflected on how the attack changed his life and revealed that, although Veer Pahariya condemned the incident on social media, he never personally reached out to him.
On joining Bigg Boss 19
Talking about his decision to do the show, Bigg Boss 19 contestant Pranit More said, “When I got the offer to do the show, I thought to myself I’ve done so many different things in life. I was an RJ, then moved on to stand-up comedy, so this felt like a new opportunity. Through stand-up, we cater mostly to the YouTube audience, but with this show, I’ll also get a chance to connect with the TV audience. The only challenge was that I had never watched Bigg Boss before, so I didn’t know the basics. I had to learn everything from my team, from the rules of the house to surprising details like there being no clocks and even pens and paper not being allowed.”

In February, stand-up comedian Pranit More was attacked by a group of 10–12 people who warned him against making jokes about Sky Force actor Veer Pahariya. The incident occurred in Solapur, Maharashtra, leaving Pranit seriously injured and causing significant damage to the venue. During the interview, Pranit discussed how his life has changed after the incident. He said, “Life changed a lot after that incident. Now I am a lot more conscious that anything can happen. We are extra cautious before putting out content now, and we check if there is anything controversial in it. Obviously, my way of making content hasn’t changed, but now we have to keep security during shows, so that expense has gone up. More people have now started coming to our shows, and some people say that has happened because of this controversy.”
After Pranit More was attacked, actor Veer Pahariya expressed his support and condemned the incident on social media. However, Pranit clarified that Veer never personally reached out to him. When asked if he was entering Bigg Boss 19 to clear the air about the controversy, Pranit said, “If I stay stuck in that incident, I won’t be able to grow in life. It happened, and there’s nothing I want to prove. I’ve already taken the necessary legal action, and the case is ongoing. I’m not here to clear that controversy.”
The stand-up comedian also shared his views on how people get easily offended today. “Today, people do get offended easily, and it does bother us to some extent. What topic do we now joke about? The live show audience doesn’t bother us so much because they come for it. The ones who see the content sitting at home get offended. They will always be there, even though we have been careful in the edit. Now, if we feel something is risky or a grey area, we avoid that. Live shows remain unchanged, though.”
On his Bigg Boss 19 audition
Like every contestant, Pranit More also met the makers before signing the Bigg Boss 19 contract. Recalling how that meeting went, he said, “In my audition, they asked me about my personality, likes, dislikes. We spoke about stand-up comedy and life. It wasn’t a very serious interview. We only had one meeting, and I didn’t discuss any specifics about how I want to be seen. If the cameras monitor you 24/7, you cannot control how you are seen, because that is who you are. How much will they edit it?”
Talking about what people can expect from him on Bigg Boss 19, Pranit said, “I am a happy-go-lucky kind of a person, I am an ambivert. I take some time to open up. My strength is that I am very patient, and that can work in my favor. My weakness is that I might not be able to give them the drama they need. I am not the kind of person who gives them dramatic footage every day. I get triggered by double standards and loud behavior.”
Comedian Pranit More, popularly known as ‘Maharashtrian Babu’ on social media, has over 10 lakh subscribers on YouTube and 430K followers on Instagram. He regularly performs live shows across the country. Earlier this year, however, one such show took a tragic turn when a group of 10–12 people attacked him for making jokes about actor Veer Pahariya.
