As Ankita Lokhande and Vicky Jain’s tiffs in Bigg Boss 17 house continue to garner maximum footage, many have forgotten that there’s another couple on the show — Neil Bhatt and Aishwarya Sharma. The Ghum Hai Kisi Ke Pyaar Mein actors have been married for two years and continue to back each other in the controversial reality show. Neil has had a number of fights, including one with Vicky, while Aishwarya and Abhishek Kumar indulged in a war of words during the Weekend Ka Vaar episode.

Before entering the show, Neil spoke to indianexpress.com and shared that while Aishwarya was offered the show during Khatron Ke Khiladi, the makers reached out to him later on. The couple decided that it would be a better experience if they did the show together and thus gave their nod. Calling Aishwarya his ‘best friend’, Neil said that they would get to spend the maximum time together, which is an advantage. “However, we don’t know how things would pan out later, so I don’t know if there are any disadvantages also. But we are game for everything that comes up,” he shared.

The 12/24 Karol Bagh actor added that as a married couple they will not shy away from showing affection. In the same breath, he also shared that they also do not want to fake a ‘happy couple’ image and wouldn’t mind arguing on camera. He said, “See we are a couple and these things are normal. If we try to project something, people will say we are fake. This is our house and you will see the real us inside. Also, in a show like this, you start looking at them as people and not your partner.”

Neil Bhatt said that they both are quite competitive and believe in healthy sportsmanship. He added that his wife, however, is more competitive than him. While he hadn’t figured out who deserved the trophy, the actor smiled to say that he hoped the two reach the final together. He also shared that while the two would try to fight their own battle, once their relationship is put at stake, both of them would be their for each other.

During Khatron Ke Khiladi 13, Aishwarya Sharma was tagged as ‘dominating’ and many fans are already wondering whether Neil Bhatt would be ‘joru ka ghulam’ on the show. “People and their labels,” he said, and added, “It’s so hypocritical. If a husband doesn’t listen to his wife, he’s called dominating. And if they support their wives, they are called ghulams. In a time and age where we talk about women empowerment, we should back the ladies in our lives in all ways, sometimes, even let them lead. We have mutual respect and that’s what is most important.”

Over the years, Bigg Boss has seen a war between TV actors and social media creators. In this season too, contestants indulged in a war of words on the basis of their background. When asked about the same, Neil said that everyone has their own journey and career paths. He said that given he’s not too active on social media, he understands how tough it is to keep entertaining audiences on a regular basis. “I have a background so people do connect with me. Imagine someone with no exposure does it and gathers a following, that is commendable. Also, we shouldn’t be comparing ourselves on the basis of others’ achievements and recognition.”

Hosted by Salman Khan, Bigg Boss 17 airs on Colors TV.
