Bigg Boss OTT winner Divya Agarwal ended her relationship of four years with Varun Sood in March last year. Then, in December 2022, Divya got engaged to Apurva Padgaonkar, an entrepreneur-restaurateur in Mumbai. Now, Divya has opened up about the reason behind her break up with Varun. She has revealed that she was not happy in that relationship and meeting Apurva, whom she knew for the past seven years and was also in a relationship with for a few years, made her feel good.
Speaking with actor Amrita Rao and RJ Anmol for their podcast, Divya revealed that after her father’s demise, she felt she had nobody to support her and that is when she thought, “There is something wrong in this relationship.” With that thought, Divya met Apurva at a friend’s wedding.
Divya and Apurva first met when Divya had just won Miss Navi Mumbai and the organisers of the beauty pageant introduced her to Apurva. The two formed an instant connection and Divya even proposed marriage to him in their second meeting. However, Apurva was not ready for marriage and didn’t want to date a girl who had marriage on her mind. So, the two put a “pause” on their relationship.
A few years later, Divya and Apurva regretted their decision. Divya shared, “I met Apurva at a common friend’s wedding last year on February 14. We were sitting and just said, ‘We were so stupid. We could have been in that place.’ I told him that I was in a relationship. And honestly, after that day, I was in two minds. He told me to meet his dogs. I met them, I met his parents and then I don’t know how, I saw his closet in his bedroom and just thought, ‘Where is my space here?’ I didn’t even share this thought with him. I was hyper and feeling guilty because I had a boyfriend (Varun Sood).”
With many “complex emotions”, Divya decided to call it quits with Varun and even made him meet Apurva. She added, “With Varun, I felt all over the place. With Apurva, I would feel calm and mature. I made Varun meet Apurva. I told him clearly that I had a problem. I had confusion. Whatever has happened is very wrong and it has happened because of me. I need to put a stop somewhere. And that’s why it was an abrupt break-up.”
While announcing her break-up with Varun, Divya had written on Instagram, “Life is such a circus! Try n keep everyone happy, expect nothing that’s true but what happens when the self love starts declining ?? No, i don’t blame anyone for anything that’s happening to me.. I feel worked up .. and that’s okay .. I want to breathe n live for myself .. that’s okay ! I hereby formally declare that I’m on my own in this life and would like to take my time to live the way I want to. No, it’s not always necessary to have big statements, excuses and reasons for a decision. It’s just my choice to step out of it.” She concluded, “Thank you Varun for everything. Will always be good friends.”
In December 2022, Divya posted pictures from her engagement with Apurva. The restaurateur had proposed to her on her birthday in the presence of her family members and close friends. She captioned the photos, “Hey Coco! It’s been 7 years and look how far we have come.. it doesn’t matter what we are today, we are back for what we had back then. My raw and unfiltered man, I love you for your heart.”
