Social media influencer Awez Darbar recently got evicted from Salman Khan-hosted Bigg Boss 19. While his evictions were called unfair by his family, many ex-bigg boss contestants also expressed disappointment over the same. Unfortunately, Awez Darbar could only stay on the show for a month. Soon after his exit, there were rumors that Awez’s family paid the makers Rs 2 crores for his voluntary exit from the show. Now, in an exclusive interview with SCREEN, Awez Darbar has quashed all rumors. He has even slammed Amaal Mallik and Baseer Ali for the claims they made against him.

On his Bigg Boss 19 eviction

Talking about his shocking eviction, Awez said, “It doesn’t feel good, but it’s okay. I was super excited for the show, I was trying to be unique, but I was made to feel that I was not doing much. Now, when I see the episodes, I realize I have done a lot of things that went viral. I don’t understand why I was given that feedback about not being active. I feel all narratives about me are really stupid; I deserved to be in the game more than the others. I am disappointed, but I had the best time on the show; it has taught me the value of many things.”

Soon after Awez got evicted, there were speculations on social media that his family decided to get him out of the show. Apparently, Awez’s sister-in-law, Gauahar, had asked the makers if they were planning to bring his rumored ex, Shubhi Joshi, on the show. When she didn’t get a definite answer, the family chose to pay a Rs 2 crores penalty and get Awez out of the game. Reacting to these speculations, Awez said, “Even I heard these rumors, and whoever is spreading these things, Karma will hit back. Why would I pay Rs 2 crores for a show where I am just getting Rs 50 lakhs? I have seen these shows, and I know your past does get dragged, so I obviously considered all of this before I went inside. I have been very clear, never made any fake promises to anyone, and I was ready for everything. My family and I are disappointed and shocked by this eviction.”

On claims made by Amaal Mallik

On the show, music composer Amaal Mallik made some serious claims about Awez. He called the influencer a womanizer and also stated that 25 million out of his 30 million followers are fake. Responding to this, Awez said, “Gauahar rightly gave it back to Amaal, but I have now decoded why he said those things. First of all, they were scared because of the followers I had; they wanted to put me down so that they could look better. This is why the house has two gangs, one is positive and the other is negative. They try to tarnish your image; they want to make you feel inferior all the time. I want to tell Amaal that if I have paid followers, why did he DM me first to make a video together? He always initiated the messages; they are two-faced people.”

Awez also spoke about Amaal claiming to give him work opportunities worth Rs 20 lakhs. “I want to thank him because he has shown my value to people. I will never work with Amaal again. I have nothing against Dabboo uncle and Armaan; this is between Amaal and me. He has started this, and I will end it,” Awez said. He further added, “I have never asked for work; if I had to do that, I would have asked my father. He is a National Award winner; it was easier for me to get into the industry through him. I could have worked in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s production. However, I wanted to do everything on my own, that’s why I left my house and started working. I had no money or house, every year I used to keep switching cities because I was a dance teacher in a company. Whatever I did was on my own merit, and if he offered me work, why is he portraying that I won’t clash with him? Because he is a coward. He has a superiority complex, and he gets triggered over little things. He is very condescending, and he always talks behind people’s backs. Gauahar was right to call him a hypocrite, and he definitely has some mental issues because he keeps flipping.”

On Baseer Ali and Shubhi Joshi’s claims of him cheating on fiancée Nagma Mirajkar…

One of the emotional moments for Awez on the show was when he was accused of cheating on Nagma Mirajkar by a fellow contestant. Model Shubhi Joshi also made some accusations about him. Speaking about those, Awez said, “It would have affected me when I was wrong, but I wasn’t. Nagma is still here; she is still giving interviews sbout me. We started dating just now; it was a trial period, and she said this to Salman Khan at the grand premiere. I never said I dated her for 10 years; they twisted the story and set a fake narrative.” Reacting to Baseer’s allegations about him texting random girls and flirting with them on Instagram, Awez said, “Everyone does that when they are single; they must have done it too. I was not dating anyone, Nagma and I were just friends, and we have a dance studio where we are all partners, so we had to keep meeting. Our videos would work with the audience; we were like the SRK and Kajol of social media.”

He further added, “Friendships do develop into feelings. I never wanted to date anyone because I have family trauma from the past. I wanted to be single like Salman Bhai, but when the feelings got strong, she told me, ‘Let’s part ways,’ and I agreed. It had started causing differences in our work, and we took a gap for one year, but I started missing her, and then I called her and said we should give it a try. Till then, we were not offered this show. Coincidentally, when she agreed, this offer came around the same time.”

“I don’t understand how he made those statements. I never brought outside topics on the show. I never dated Shubhi; she used to keep asking me, but I never…I don’t want to demean anyone, just because someone wants a wildcard entry on the show, I don’t want to discuss them. I just want to warn Baseer’s PR team that if they continue spreading false things about me, I will start revealing things if they continue,” Awez added.

On his marriage plans

Awez shared marriage plans and shared, “Family wanted us to get married in December, so we said yes, they told us we had already taken so much time. Then Bigg Boss happened, so we pushed the wedding. Now we are both in trauma, so we will first take a vacation and then we will decide, but it should happen early next year.”

On the work front, Awez plans to explore the reality space further.
