Ashneer Grover mocks Anupam Mittal publicly, takes a dig at falling TRPs of Shark Tank India: ‘I’m the GOAT, others still auditioning to become sharks’

Anupam Mittal was mocked by former Shark Tank India judge Ashneer Grover at a college fest. Ashneer also commented on the show's popularity after his departure.

Former Shark Tank India judge Ashneer Grover, who has since transitioned into a career as an influencer and speaker, recently attended Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology’s annual fest, where he made some uncharitable comments about the current roster of ‘sharks’ on Shark Tank India, particularly Anupam Mittal. Ashneer described Anupam as an ‘old man’, and said that the show’s popularity has been declining after he dropped out.

Ashneer’s no-nonsense attitude became hugely popular online during the massively successful first season of the reality show, and he tried to leverage it when the show was renewed for a second season. After deciding not to return, Ashneer said publicly that he ‘dominated‘ the first season, and implied that the show could no longer ‘afford‘ him.

At the recent college fest, he spoke about Anupam Mittal in particular, and said in Hindi, “Mr Mittal is getting on in age. Students touch his feet when they meet him, that’s how old he is. And if Mr Mittal has said that the angry element of season one left, it’s a fact. He hasn’t said anything wrong. The rest of them are all lifeless, aren’t they? All you need to do is look at the TRPs of the first season, and then compare them to the TRPs of season two and season three. I’d like to tell Mr Mittal one more thing. The man who left after season one was the GOAT, the rest of you are still auditioning to become sharks.” The crowd cheered loudly at Ashneer’s comments.

He also spoke about Anupam mentioning ‘gusse wala’ and said, “Dusra, gussa wala chala gaya. Ye toh fact hain na. Galat toh kuch nahi bola Mittal saab ne us tareeka se. Chala gaya… Tum sab toh thandi so sab. Tabhhi toh pehle season ka TRP dekh lo aur second, third season ka TRP dekh lo. Sab pata lag jayega (the one who would get angry has left, that’s a fact. Mittal hasn’t said anything wrong. You all are so cold. Check the TRP of the first season and those of second and third season).”

The incident that led to Ashneer’s outburst started with a Rage Room pitch in a recent Shark Tank India 3 episode. The pitcher had said, “Sharks aapko bhi gussa aata hoga na? (Sharks, you must also get angry?).” At this, Anupam Mittal interjected, “Jisko aata tha, wo gaya (The one who used to get angry has left).”

Shark Tank India is currently airing its third season. Alongside old sharks such as Anupam, Aman Gupta and Namita Thapar, this season features six new sharks such as Deepinder Goyal and Ritesh Agarwal.
