For the first time, Salman Khan announced the first contestant of Bigg Boss before the show hit the tube last year. It was Tajikistan singer Abdu Rozik. At the press launch, he also made the big revelation that Abdu will also be part of his film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, which was then titled just ‘Bhaijaan’. The singer-actor had a fruitful stint on the show and gained a massive fan following because of his innocence. This year in Eid, when the big Bollywood film finally dropped in cinema halls, fans could not find Abdu anywhere. Many were left disappointed, while many questioned whether his presence was even there initially.
In an exclusive chat with indianexpress.com, the Tajikistani singer revealed that while he had already shot for the film, there were some parts that needed to be reshot. However, he had already signed up for Bigg Boss 16 by then and thus wasn’t available. “I did shoot for the film but there were some scenes that did not come out as well as expected. They wanted me to reshoot the scenes and needed another four days. But I was already inside the Bigg Boss house, and as you’d know, you are not allowed to leave the show once you are in. This is why I could not complete the shoot and so my parts were edited out. I had definitely shot for the film. Inshallah, I will soon be back with Salman bhai again in another film,” Abdu shared.

For the unversed, Abdu Rozik had revealed that he would play a gangster ‘Chota Bhaijaan’ in the Salman film. When asked if he’s still in touch with Salman Khan after Bigg Boss, the singer said that he loves the Bollywood star and he is like an elder brother to him. “I am still in touch with him. He is my bada bhaijaan, while I am chota bhaijaan. We are in touch via calls and messages. It’s all good and I love him.”
Talking about how life has changed after Bigg Boss 16, Abdu Rozik shared, “It’s amazing. I have always received love from people and now, I am getting more love after Bigg Boss. I have definitely become more famous (laughs). Now by the grace of God, I have even started my own restaurant in Mumbai. I once called a burger ‘burgiir’ and everyone seemed to love the word. This is why decided to launch a restaurant of the same name. I just hope and pray that it does well. Of course, I will continue to work in the industry but this business is for my family. Acting, singing, music videos — it’s an unstable business. With this, I know I will always have a proper earning and can give my family all the happiness. I want my parents to be proud of me.”
Recently, Abdu Rozik found himself in a controversy when a video of him playing with a ‘loaded gun’ was shared on social media. It was said the Mumbai Police had filed a case against him. The singer dismisses the claims and says that someone intentionally shared that clip to defame him. He said he had just held the gun of one of the bodyguards and wasn’t playing with it. He added that he understands safety protocols and would never risk anyone’s life.
Abdu shared, “There was no case. I myself reached out to the police and clarified whatever had happened. It’s sad that some people want to target me. I love India, it’s like my second home and it does hurt that sometimes people want to misuse your name, or just put you in a bad spot. But I really believe that not everyone is bad. Like in our hand, every finger is not of the same size, similarly, not everyone here are the same. There would be some bad people but I don’t want to give them attention. I have received so much love from India and from the people of Mumbai. I will take that and remember it always. Most people are good to me, and I love them all.”
