Ardent fans of Vadivelu will also know that the actor is a good singer and has crooned numerous songs in his 35-year career in the film industry. It was Iliayaraaja who found a singer in Vadivelu and made him sing “Ettanaa Irundha’ in the film Ellame En Rasathan (1995). Later, the actor went on to sing in the compositions of all leading musicians including Yuvan Shankara Raja, Harris Jayaraj, Deva, Vidhyasagar, and D Imman. Now, with his upcoming film Maamannan, Vadivelu has teamed up with AR Rahmanfor a song.

AR Rahaman, the composer of Maamanna, took to Instagram to announce that Vadivelu has sung a song in the film. He also wrote the actor made the whole recording session a fun-filled experience. “Recorded a song with our Vaigai Puyal Vadivelu. He made us laugh throughout and made our session very memorable!” Rahman wrote.

Vadivelu recently sang three songs in Santhosh Narayanan’s composition for the film Naai Sekar Returns. Though the film was a box office failure, the song Appatha turned out to be a hit. Vikkalu from Bagavthi, Freeyaavudu from Aaru, and Vaadi Potta Pulla Veliye from Kaalam Maari Pochu are some of the popular songs sung by the actor.

Vadivelu, who once was the most sought-after in the industry, stopped acting in many films post-2010. With the decline of the concept of comedy tracks in Tamil cinema, his number of films also dwindled in the industry. Now, in Maamanan, the actor is playing a lead role. The poster of the film suggests that he would be playing a serious politician in Mari Selvaraj’s movie. Other than Vadivelu, the film also stars Udhayanidhi Stalin, Fahadh Faasil, and Keerthy Suresh.
